What is Roller Derby? It's a sport that's had many iterations. Even though we accept members of all genders, we skate by the Women's Flat Track Roller Derby Association(WFTDA) rules and regulations, which means we field five players at a time from our team. The Jammer is the only point scorer and can call off play when needed. Four blockers make up the defence and offence for the team, trying to stop the opponent's Jammer from getting past and blocking the opponents so our Jammer can get through and get lots of points. We play on quad boots, and have helmets, elbow, wrist and knee pads as well as mouthguards.

What if I don't know anything about skating? No prior skating experience required to come to a practice, but it is encouraged! We have sets of loaner gear (skates, pads, helmets) for newcomers to borrow and lots of experienced skaters who are willing to teach everything about derby. All genders always welcome.

What if I'm not athletic? Are you unsure that you want to skate? Do you have a disability that would make skating not ideal for you? That’s ok! We’re always looking for Non-Skating Officials to learn the rules of the sport so that during bouts(our games), we can keep the game well regulated.Derby is a sport that includes many body types and variations! We don't need you to do a certain number of pushups or anything like that. We teach you every skill you need to know to join the team, just have lots of patience and IcyHot for sore muscles :)
